Here's the skinny.
If you’ve been watching the news lately, Jessica Simpson’s “weight gain” is causing quite the stir (See below from New York Post http://www.nypost.com/delonas/delonas.htm).
Not only is the issue of weight gain embarassing and ridiculing to most women, it is insane to portray Jessica Simpson as a roly-poly morbidly obese woman. Realistically, she has a curvacious body...
Real Estate Brokers in NYC...
…are an interesting bunch, to say the least.
I narrow them down to three categories:
1) Guys with blow-outs who show you shittiest apartments you CAN afford immediately followed by the COOLEST apartments that you CAN’T afford, while mockingly driving you around in their BMWs. (see www.aptsandlofts.com)
2) Chicks with tight jeans and big hair that paint a gorgeous image of a crappy...

In the blue
After a year of economic turmoil, the effects of this recession have finally touched me.
Let’s say the struggling economy is a pen that has bursted onto a napkin. As the sea of blue ink has expanded, I’ve sat comfortably in the white area, watching in ignorance, feeling as if I’m untouchable. But, as of right now, I am covered in blue ink and I regret that I didn’t see...
Pretty Penny
In the search for Brooklyn apartments, you never know what you might see.
With one month left on my lease, I went to view an apartment in Williamsburg last night. From the get-go, I was a bit skeeved since this sliver of an apartment was sandwiched between a chinese restaurant and a bodega. Not a good start. With a bubbly broker at my side, we ascended a 5 floor walk up.
Big chunks of plaster...
Quarter Century - Time's Vanishing Act
As of last Friday, I have officially lived a quarter century. That’s 9,125 days… 219,000 hours… 13,140,000 minutes… and 788,400,000 seconds that have flown by faster than I probably wanted.
I have to say I’m quite happy with where my life has taken me. I’ve met the most amazing people on my journey. The teachers who have inspired me, the friends on whose...
Forever Puppy
There’s a forever puppy in my neighborhood and he’s utterly adorable.
My boyfriend and I started noticing him when we moved to Brooklyn over a year ago. In the mornings on my way to work, I’d pass by his unassuming walker and gawk at the puppy who looks like a blend of German Sheppard and Rottweiler. His fur has got that new puppy look about it, kind of fluffy and cuddly. ...
Idolotry
Although last night’s premiere of this season’s “American Idol” was down 10% in ratings (www.huffingtonpost.com), there were still several cringe inspiring moments of voyeuristic indulgence.
Take for example the moment when Ryan Seacrest thoughtlessly high-5’d a blind man.
…or the moment when a girl with little talent and fewer articles of clothing...
Obama Inaugaration Airs in NYC Movie Theaters
MSNBC has just announced that it will be partnering with 27 movie theaters around the country to air live Obama’s inaugaration on Tues. 1/20, 11am - 3:30pm. Find out how to get your free ticket here.
It makes me unbelievably proud to know that although many of us will not be able to make it to Washington, DC for this historic event, major media partners are bringing the action to us.

Matt
It’s funny how one person can make your day.
I had lunch today at a local restaurant and noticed the bartender (visual aid: a blonde haired, bright eyed artsy-type) looking my way. I was on a business lunch with an older gentleman who had, noticeably, had a few drinks with this lad, and I’m sure shared a few long tales. As we left the restaurant, my lunch guest said his goodbyes to...

On the top of one’s Tumblr homepage is a link titled, “explore.” When this button is hit, the user is redirected to another screen which displays the several hundred thousand new posts made in the last 24 hours. From my experience browsing the multitude of these engaging posts, there seems to be an unhealthy amount of creative babble.
Being one of these creative babblers,...

Sidewalk Ballerina's 2008 Film Crisis
I started this post as a list of my favorite films of 2008, but I soon noticed that I could not possibly create this list since there are still SO many 2008 films that I have yet to see.
Therefore, it is my goal to see the below movies before the Oscars on February 22nd, 2009. A much more ambitious list, don’t you think?
- Revolutionary Road
- The Wrestler
- Frost/Nixon
- Milk
- In...

Things NOT to bring on the nyc subway
Every once in a while, we New Yorkers feel as if we can defy the rules of subway physics. Despite having 6 stops or more to our apartment in rush hour traffic, we’ll think it justifiable to purchase oversized furniture or other abnoxious items and haul it home via mta.
Luckily, in New York, everyone has made this mistake. You may get a few pissed off glances, but most subway goers have...
